Well, I glad Spiderm0n cleared that up, the last date I had in the X-Type commented that the valet service at Ruth's Chris Steak House in the Buckhead district of Atlanta seemed slower that usual, I now have the answer!

According to the most recent test results in Car and Driver here is what they found (these articles are available online):

0-60 times
BMW 325i: 7.0 seconds (Jan 2001 C&D)
Jaguar X-type 3.0: 7.2 seconds (Feb 2002 C&D)

Note: the 325 beat the 3.0 x-type, so it sure as hell is faster than the 2.5 x-type!

Followup note: People here will attack these numbers. They will tell you C&D is biased, and that they don't know how to do road tests, blah, blah, blah. Believe whoever you want, but the 325 is faster. Go test drive it yourself.
