Correct, according to BMW's numbers, the 325xi is way slower than the X-type. The 330xi is abot the same (6.9/7.5, manual/auto)...
I, however bought the Xtype for agile comfort and elegance....something that the BMW couldn't come near!!!

The BMW IS the right car for some people...it's sportier...and things such as comfort are highly subjective..Hell, even performance is subjective when it comes down to it....A 0-60 is not the end-all performance spec of a car...I mean, what about 60-100, or 100-150??? What about curves? Adverse conditions?
It all comes down to personal opinion, and my advice is to drive them both and buy what you like....

By the way, www.x-typecentral.com is shaping up and should be ready to go soon...more details to come...

If you check the Car and Driver Feb. 2002 issue on page 111 (which I'm holding in my hand), it states : Jaguar X-type 3.0-liter (6/01) 0-60 time of 6.3. In a paradoxical statement by Car and Driver in the same issue on page 50 it lists the 0-60 time of 7.2 . Believe what you want, but I'm going with page 111, cause it's prettier... Maybe the driver of page 50 had a cramp in his leg as he was testing the X-type. And by the way, shouldn't we be comparing apples to apples and oranges to oranges. How about a comparison between the 325"X"i and the X-type? The BMW may be faster, but lets at least be fair here...
