Yes, I've had the seat-rocking problem, too. Just had it in to the dealer - they gave me the "they are all like that" response. Guess if enough of us complain..... Let me (us) know if you hear anything more about this "type" problem and the fix. They fixed the weeping nozzels by installing 2-3 check valves in the line. Known issue it seems.

3.0 SE automatic

Overall the x-type is a great car but the reliability has been terrible! The following problems have occurred on mine so far:

1. Driver seat rocks back and forth – apparently this is a ’type’ fault and jaguar are working on a fix to be retro fitted to all vehicles in a serial number range. I’ve been waiting 3mths for this to be fixed!
2. Drivers airbag light comes on when using cruise control and then pressing the + to accelerate – fixed by dealer by moving wiring.
3. In cold starting after approx 30 secs there is a noise of something screeching, this can repeat after about another 30 secs – this is another known problem, the dealer replaced the prop shaft but the noise has returned 3 days later so its going back in!
4. Speedo and computer average speed do not match – dealer and jaguar working on a solution
5. Wiper nozzles weeping - another known problem, so its going into the dealer to be fixed!
6. Wiper motor control failed – replaced by dealer
7. Passenger seat belt locked in home position – replaced by dealer

So a great car is being spoiled by poor reliability and taking it in and out of the dealership is getting frustrating.
