There were many discrepencies between their rating of the X-Type in their comparison test and their June test. They rated the X-Type very highly in the June test with much better performance numbers. In between the June test and the comparison test, C&D named both the 330i and the A4 as 2 of their 10 Best. There was no way they would have rated any car, much less the X-Type higher than either one of them. C&D made a lot of BS statements about the X-Type in the comparison article, including poor interior room, fading brakes, ride and performance numbers. Even their own "Road Test Summary" disagreed with their own accelleration and braking numbers. It does make you wonder who pays the most in advertising money.

I thought the Cadillac CTS had the worst interior of the cars you mentioned. The Audi A4 seems to have a very nice interior. The old Catera has a nicer interior than the CTS.

The Cadillac is an interesting car but the cheap plastic P-C-Computer looking center dashboard and the plastic door panels seem more appropriate for a Chevy Cavalier than a Cadillac.

Also the back seat of the CTS seems no larger than that in the Lexus IS300. Very tiny and not easy to get into and out of.

I can not determine how the reviewers considered the CTS interior to be nice than the X type Jaguar's.

Thank you for listening. Magoo

Doing the same research, after numerous test drives I would rate the cars in the following order:
1. Jaguar X-Type 3.0
2. Cadillac CTS
3. Audi A4 3.0 Quattro
4. Lincoln LS
5. BMW 330i
6. Saab 9-3 Viggen
7. Lexus IS300
I tested with automatic and consider not only pleasure of driving, but also interior features.

Featured in this Comparo:
Audi A4 3.0 Quattro
BMW 330i
Cadillac CTS
Jaguar X-Type 3.0
Lexus IS300
Lincoln LS
Saab 9-3 Viggen
