The warning displays when the outside temperature is close to freezing. It's designed to make you aware of the possibility of ice on the roads.

I have had no problem with the temp display, but I belive that the sensor is housed in the the passenger side outside mirror (I don't know for sure, but based on my past cars from FOMOCO and Merkur, thats a favorite spot!) I don't understand the feedback about the low temp message, it shows up when I start the car and is never heard from again, can someone tell me about this?
