Nothing solid but.. I think there's too much in the pipe for Jaguar to announce X-Type R during this year.

S-Type is now out with the new versions (2.5l V6 and R).

XK will get a minor facelift later this year and upgraded to the 4.2l V8 engine like the S-type R. They've already done testing in Lapland and there was a picture of XK8 so I believe it's coming for both the XK8 and XKR.

XJ has already been rumoured for a long time and is quite certain.

X-Type needs diesel engine for the European market. Althought X-Type R is easier to do, there's also demand for estate version to compete well against Audi's A4 and BMW 3-series. Well, X-type R is needed against S4/RS4 and M3, too..

A bit too much for 2002, right?
