Mark,
Understand from reading a post that the lock is a knopwn problem and Jaguar is redesigning with a fix out in a month or two. In the meantime, try pulling the emergency release from the Velcro and let it loose. If you do this inside the trunk while pulling down from the INSIDE handle it'll work. This should reset itself and work if you use the button manually to open the trunk.
Drop back seats (or crawl into the trunk with someone on the outside so you don't get stuck) reach into the back part of the trunk where you will find a place to put your fingers for shutting the trunk. This indentation is located on the passenger side. [It would be a good idea to have a flashlight (torch) with you.] At the same time pull the emergency release and let its cable loose. Secure the trunk by pulling down and engaging the lock and then put the emergency handle Velcro back in place leaving a little slack in the cable. This worked for me and I now push the button manually on the trunk. This has worked and hopefully will continue to work until the new lock is designed and manufactured.

Hi...I took delivery of my 3.0 Sport auto 4 weeks ago and had several problems with the boot not locking. I also had one instance where it would not unlock.
Tried everything including calling Jaguar dealer (UK)but nothing worked.
Eventually re-started the engine which appeared to reset the electronics!..
