Do you test cars at Edmund's? (nt) (archive)

I just had the worst day today.. I got up this morning and after getting ready, went out to my Ford X type to get inside.. I pressed the keyless entry button, and the car would only unlock the passenger side. So I had to manually unlock the door.. Then, I went to open the door, and the door handle fell off.. I could not believe this.. I got inside the car and the car would not start.. The battery was dead... So I jump started it.. I took off to work, and then half way there, my Ford X type starts sputtering out, like it is out of gas.. But I have a quarter tank of gas left... So I get a tow; come to find out, the gas gauge was not working and had stopped at some point.. So I get more gas in the car and take off to work again.. I am so late now, I try to go fast... I get near 70 mph, and the car is at red line.. It is making this weird noise, like a whinning noise, seems like it is coming from the front passenger side.. So I am pushing the car's limits I guess, at 70 near redline.. I am almost to work, and my tempature starts going up on the car.. So I slow down a lil bit.. I arrive at work and park... I see smoke coming up from the engine, not a good sign.. I get out and shut the door, a little bit hard, because I am so mad.. The driver mirror then falls off and breaks on the ground.. I cannot believe it.. So I go to work.. I come back afterwards, try to start thte car, it wont start.. So I had it towed to dealer, told them to keep their Ford X type.. I'm going to get something more reliable.. I'm thinking a Chevy Impala with sport package.. or maybe even I Chevy Malibu to save some money.. what do you all think?? have any similar problems?? please tell
