Yes, its the shift gate interlock engaging as mentioned. You can hear it when you drive off...but it shouldn't happen when you're driving along and brake slightly. The dealer said there's a solenoid that in the J-Gate that's faulty. They diagnosed it straight away - just got in the car and drove 10 yards - said they'd had the problem before. A new j-gate resolved the problem - now I don't hear the click when I'm driving along - it got quite irritating everytime I touched the brake!
They replaced the transmission shifter? What exactly was faulty, and how was it related to the brake pedal?

I had the same (probably similar mileage too). The dealer replaced the J-Gate and it's fixed now.

This click noise occurs while I am driving - if I put pressure on the pedal and then release, I get the sound of one click. This just started around the the 1,900 mile mark.

Well, I'm not sure its the same thing, but I think we all have that. Its the shift gate interlock engaging, making sure your foot is on the brake before moving the gearshift. My VW does the same thing. But it sounds like you've never heard it before, or you've just never noticed it before?

I have a 3.0 automatic with approximately 3,000`miles. Just started having a small problem. When I apply the brakes and them release them, the is a momentary click noise which sounds as if its coming from somewhere around the glove box. Has anyone else had this problem and do you know why it is occurring?
