TTB,
Excuse the other inappropriate remarks that are off the subject. We USonians are sometimes easily led off the mark.
I too have heard the whine sound on my X. Only 350 miles and I have heard it twice. I am attributing it to the cold weather (30-40 degrees) and the newness of the vehicle. It sounds like it is coming from a belt and only when the engine was still cold. Sometimes belts do that until they are worn in. If it happens a few more times, I'll take it in and have the dealer identify it. Until then, as long as no lights appear on the cluster to indicate anything serious, I'll keep enjoying my drives. For ID of sound, I have the following options: X1, X3, Nav, PremSound, Xenon
