I have read that the automatic transmission on the X-Type has electronic intelligence that allows it to "learn" from the driver's techniques. It takes some time and mileage before the calculations can be made and the computer can then anticipate its proper behavior.

As I gain mileage on my 3.0 X-Type it seems to be bearing this out.

I spent a few days last week with a friend's X-type while in Seattle and, as it had nearly 3,000 miles on it, it seemed to be more refined.

I don't know if this "learning" capability is true, but I clearly remember reading about it somewhere...
