I have a 3.0 with automatic and love it. It does, however, only get about 19-20 mpg on the commute (half freeway / half city). These results are kind of disappointing since my XJ6 gets the same mpg. The idea of turning off the AC sounds good. Also, I'm hoping that after the need for winter warm-ups passes, the mpg will increase.

Happy with my X-type but the numbers are in. I'm getting 18-19 mpg on the highway and a little over 12 in the city, without any hard driving. The only thing I'm going to make sure on the next tank is that the ac button is off (dealer recommended leaving it on year round), but other than that, I'd really like to swap notes about mileage. Car runs fine, no leadfoot driving, does this sound reasonable?
