Strange thing is, here in England (about 25 miles from the plant where the X-Type's are built) the reviews a very much different. Take this exerpt from the BBC's 'Top Gear' TV show and magazine:
'If there is any criticism to be levelled, it would have to be at the finish and quality of some of the interior plastic trim, which isn’t (yet) up to the high standard of the BMW 3-Series or the virtual perfection of the latest generation
Audi A4. Rear legroom is adequate, but not extensive and otherwise the X is hard to fault. The leather, carpet, console/dash design, refinement, comfort, driving position, visibility, build quality and bootspace should easily meet or exceed customer expectations.'
You can read all of the 'preofessional' reviews in the world, but ultimately, MikeP is right - it's the owners opinions that matter and bear the most weight.
Regards,
Mike.
Don't let one or two reports sway your opinion. I'm glad I didn't see this report before I bought my X-Type 3.0. I might not have gone to test drive it. There's no way a reviewer can get a sense of living with a car as does an owner. I don't have my car very long, only about 7 weeks and 1200 miles, but I can tell you this review is dead wrong. It is a joy to drive aggressively, it is comfortable and has a great growl from the engine(I traded a BMW 330Ci for my X-Type). This article will do readers an injustice if it keeps them from considering the X-Type as a potential purchase.
absolutely devastating report! it almost convinces me to stay away from the x.
