Ken, I would suggest that you take an extended test drive if you haven't already. I suspect that you will be happy with the acceleration if you're not looking to drag race at every stop light. The most recent test of a 2.5 that I have seen was in the latest issue of Motor Trend, but it was a 5 speed. The 0-60 number they published was about 8.5 sec. In the X-Type brochure, that's the figure that's posted for the 2.5 automatic. I am over 50 myself and bought a 3.0 with a 5 speed. It's lots of fun and very smooth shifting. Congratulations on your order and I hope the wait is short.

I've got a 2.5 with automatic on order. There are no other packages, just the basic model. My question is what is the performance of this car? What do you know, what have you heard it to be? I am over 50 so I am not interested in "hot-rodding", thought I have owned sports cars with stick shifts for most of my life. I just want some "power" and solid smooth acceleration. What say you all?
