Having read and posted to the E46 message boards for a year and a half, I have seen quite a few quality problems with BMW's. Cooling fans that quit working causing some fires (and a recall on a recall), brake rotors warping, sunroof control modules that need replacing, window regulators needing replacement, sticky accelerator pedals, climate control module failures, should I go on? Gosh, and with genuine BMW parts !!!!!!! There is no perfect car, Joseph. There are choices that have to be made when buying a car. There will always be compromises in quality, performance, comfort and reliability. Choosing to purchase an X-Type doesn't mean that we believe all other brands are inferior, as many BMW E46 owners do. There are many wonderfully engineered cars being produced today. After owning many BMW's, I can say that it is one of them. I don't understand your need to degrade others because they have a different opinion. Competition improves all makes, including BMW.
