I didn't drive a 2.5 before buying my 3.0, but the reviews I read indicated that both engines made the X-Type fun to drive. The review said that the engine sounds were similar and the performance of the 2.5 was good, especially when keeping it in the higher RPM range. The design and technology of both engines are the same. I think you will enjoy the 2.5 AND the savings over the 3.0.

Dear all,
I bought a 2.5 sport with manual gear (I will receive that later this year)
Saturday I got a 3.0 executive with automatic gear for a test drive (the 2.5 was not available at the dealer)
I was impressed by everything, no strange noise, everything was working fine and the engine was really nice and the sound of the engine was "involving" most of all above 4500.
My question now is: what will be the difference with the 2.5? Is the sound different? Can I really feel the difference (I do not like the automatic gear and probably the manual gear is much more sporty)?
Had anyone the opportunity to test both the engines?

Thanks

An impatient guy from Switzerland
