This past Saturday, I traded my BMW 330Ci on a 3.0 X-type (X1, Premium sound, 5 speed, Platinum/Charcoal). I was really impressed after my first test drive of
the X-type and I was looking for a more compliant ride and more room. I can't think of a better all-around car for me. It might not be the best in any single
category, but it seems to be great in all of the ones that are important to me. I'm even impressed with the gas mileage. I just returned from an overnight trip
and averaged 30.5MPG one way on the Interstate without A/C and 28.8MPG with A/C and some stop-&-go at speeds from 65-75MPH.

I did have some rattles when I took delivery and isolated most of them. One was from a vibrating rear door panel and the other was at the base of the rear
seatback where it rubs against an attachment for a child seat. The worst noise is coming from the console, which on my car seems very loose and flimsy. I
coated the vinyl where the lids close against the base of the compartment and that reduced the noise a lot, but not altogether, especially when the armrest is
pulled forward. Has anyone else experienced the console noise problem? I'll be calling the service department to see what they tell me, but if any of you have had the problem and found a solution, I'd appreciate hearing from you. Thanks,
Mike
