If you read the 3- and 5-series boards in the BMW section of this site...and also the X5 board...you'll see many reports of recalls and problems. I am not aware of as many problems with the current new Jaguars as there are with the current crop of new BMWs.

All in all, both BMW and Jaguar are much more reliable than just about any car sold 10 years ago, but Jaguar in particular has really improved its reliability ever since Ford became involved.
