Hi

I live in the UK and have had my X-Type for 2 months after I ordered it in Feb. It is a 3 litre Sport manual and I have done 4000 miles in it. I love it but there have been a couple of little niggles:

1. While driving the car home from the showroom there was a slight squeak coming from under the car (nearside rear). Got gradually worse over the next two weeks until I could only drive with the radio on! Tried everything to find out what it was. Took it to my dealer (Lancaster Reading) whotook 2 seconds to sort it. Turns out the handbrake cable passes through a rubber loop that needed to be greased. Hence I could not find the problem because, like all good motorists, I park with the handbrake on!

2. The doors look automatically when the speed of the car exceeds 5mph. Sometimes, when I stop the car and turn the engine off, I am unable to open the car doors. I have to use the Key button. Not good if in an accident....
This auto-lock feature can be turned off by a dealer.

3. Today, my fuel gauge has a mind of its own. It has gone from being just under half full to being a quarter full in the space of about 3 miles. Will keep an eye on it.

4. Other pepople being Envious! I have never known a car bring out such emotions in people.

As I said earlier, I still love it despite the niggles.

If you are thinking of buying one, Go For It!!!

Regards

Richard Wilde

Hi Richard

Thanks, this is precisely the sort of data I was hoping for - at least these niggles don't sound quite as bad as BMW's MINI recall!!

I'm hoping to collect my car (3.0SE in pacific blue) from Germany in October, so keeping my fingers crossed until then....

How have you found the wind noise 'supposed 'problem?
