X Type 0-60 times (archive)

If the quoted 0-60 time for the 3.0 manual at 6.6 seconds is correct then it should be a fast car. However Jaguar quote a 6.9 sec 0-60 time for the s type 3.0 manual, yet no independant magazine got anywhere near this time the fastest being 7.5 secs. I have an S type and recon the 0-60 time is not 6.9 more like 7.5 having owned a few fast cars. I have an X type on order and hope Jaguar are right this time about its o-60 time. Incidently BMW quote a 0-60 time of 6.5secs for its 3.0 3 series which was independantly teasted by EVO mag at 5.9 secs!!! very fast so the x type has a to deliver or we will feel let down. Looking at the torque figures for the engine it would apear Jag have remapped the engine to give peak torque lower down the rev range. 3000 on the x type as opposed to 4,500 0n the s type, this would improve tractability which is poor on the S type.

There are just a few thoughts. It looks lovely though with a much better interior than the s type.
