Autoexpress is reporting a 2.5L V6, 190 hp, and a 3.0L V6, 230 hp. This seems reasonable--Jaguar are already using the 3.0 in the S-type, where it makes 240 hp. The packaging constraints of a transverse mounting could easily account for a loss of 10 hp. Of course, a 2.5L derivation of the 3.0L already exists. It does duty in the (late) Contour, the Mondeo, the Cougar, and the Mazda MPV. In each of those applications, the engine makes 170 hp. A Jaguar version could either use the high-po SVT/ST200 derivation (200 hp), or (more likely) could use a version of the 3.0L VVT heads to yield a 20 hp boost.

In the future, a supercharged 3.0 is a possibility, especially if this is the powerplant selected for the forthcoming F-type. To realistically compete with the S4, M3, C32 AMG, and the forthcoming S70 T5R, such an engine would have to produce ~300 hp.

Additionally, there will be a diesel option at some point in Europe.

does anybody knows what engines will be avaliable
on the new x-type???
