I owned 4 Benzes from 1985 to the present. I traded an SLK 320 in on an S Type R. The Benzes are not what they used to be. It took 13 months for the dealer to get the SLK in shape, through various warranty problems. Mercedes chased me away, and I look forward to the 2003 S Type. That said, I will state that the 2002 S Type did not appeal to me because of the interior quality alone.
