I have also had problems with my S-Type: vague steering and vibration since purchase at 30,000 miles; after a further 40000 miles I have at last got the problem sorted out. I had reported the problem to two local dealerships who after 7 attempts had been unable to acknowledge that the problem existed, never mind fixing it. Recently I tried another Jaguar agent who investigated the problem during it's 70000 mile service they reported slightly worn bushes to the front and rear suspension and dampers.
For the first time since ownership the car is pleasure to drive. The +,- 10 mm movement in the steering wheel has gone, the car is rock steady in a straight line and my white knuckles have regained a flesh colour.
The after sales team at Appleyards in Bradford UK have given me a car to be proud of and a joy to drive. It's a pity the other dealers couldn't have sorted this problem out, instead of making me feel foolish when relating problems that they could'nt see.
Now that this problem is sorted I will address the dreadful premium sound system surplied by Visteon, it's worth noting that the latest
S-Type have undergone serious modifications to the suspension; no doubt after our collective criticism.
Alpine sound systems make a welcome return with a sound that befits a wonderful car.
