Message: As for the battery, the open circuit voltage of a 12V lead acid battery
is 12.9 volts. A freshly charged battery might show higher because
of accumulation of free charge on the plates, but it shouldn't be
12.4 volts. Either the meter is off, or the battery is suspect.
