| Message: | My first forray into maintaining my 1999 XK8 converterable. I have had this car a couple of weeks and am still floating on air with excitement. I have been having ABS/Traction/Stability warnings as the previous owner told me I would. And the power seems to be way down. So my first step was to follow the instructions at the link mentioned below to clean the MAFS, clean the throttle body, and clean out the part load breather. I also fixed air leaks in the air intake duct with silicone sealant. The OBD2 code was for a lean mixture in bank 2 and I am hoping that this will fix that. While I was at it I pulled the connector off the ABS control unit and sprayed it with contact cleaner, brushed the male contacts with a toothbrush and put it back together. When I got everything back together I found two problems: 1. My speedometer no longer works, it just sits on the "zero" pin. 2. My top won't raise. (previous to this it would raise and lower remarkably fast, no problem getting it up while parked at a stoplight). 3. The "open trunk" button stopped working, though the keyfob transmitter still works. 4. The abs/traction/stability error are still there, but I kind of expected that. What I did doesn't seem to me to cause these problems, so I guess I need help troubleshooting the problems. By the way, I did check the main top raising fuse 40 amps in the trunk and it is still good. best regards mbrain | ||||
