| Message: | | My 1997 XK8 convertible top came within 3/4" of closing and the hook in the center that pulls it down went down first and I can't get it to come back up. I have tried loosening the valve on the pump, but the hex key or whatever cranks the hook up and down in the center is missing and it appears to be stripped out anyway (unless it isn't a hex key?) Should I contact Jaguar to buuy the correct allen/hex? key? The fluid in the pump does appear dark green or greenish brown and is about at the halfway mark. I hesitate to do anything with it right now as I would be afraid of cracking one of the hoses in the extreme cold here at the moment. I would however love to be able to get the quarter windows to raise. is there any way to trick them to do this without the top being totally latched? And, if I do need to add fluid, how much should I add? The fluid type is Pentosin CHF 11S, right? I don't think my hoses have cracked or leaked as I have not seen any fluid anywhere. Should I replace the hoses anyway? It goes in through the bolt on the top of the pump, right? (email: rjmeller@swbell.net)
