Message: According to the Technical Service Bulletin on the convertible top fluid, the "bad" fluid which would turn to gel over time, was supposedly only in the 1997 through 1999 models.

Consequently, although my gut is to think something's wrong in the hydraulic system, I can't really suggest anything. As Vic like's to say, it's difficult to diagnose over the net.
