They ended up paying me $17k with tax and license, but it turned out the car was previously rendered a salvage, but some how when I bought it with a clean title. I got duped! My insurer discounted the pre-existing damage from prior total revealed during tear down. This was back in March of 2009.

By the way CARFAX was clean. CARFAX does not reveal ANYTHING. It is a waste of money. You can get the same information from your local DMV. That's all they do is collect DMV info and resell it. That's my rant on CARFAX.
