| Message: | | i actually own a 1986 xjs which was previously owned by a woman who had advertised it on the internet. i actually knew quite a lot about xjs s because my brother had once owned one and was always complaining to me about the service costs and problems the car had. his xjs was a 1984 he, with only 36000 ks on the clock. the car was immaculate in appearance inside and out. all services were performed by jag dealer, and they were very expensive. i will admit a xjs in good going order is a wonderfull car to drive. i was not as lucky as my brother because the car i bought needed a fair bit of work and money to bring it up to a acceptible standard. i was fortunate to hear about a fellow who lived close by, and had worked as a fully trained jag mechanic for many years. well to cut a long story short ,every problem the car had was addressed and my car is very reliable now. ,the car originally cost me 3000 dollars so with labour and parts has cost a further 5500 dollars. i believe the xjs will never be a collecters car , there seems to be a lot of them around. still. what makes car worth a lot of money and keenly sought by collectors is racing pedergree which the xjs has but it does not have scarcity , ,just too many around. i do not ever use my xjs as a daily driver, its a weekend car only.
