| Message: | | the first thing to do is drive the car . pay particular attention to how it performs. does it accellerate strongly and not miss at all under severe load. does it idle smoothly. when driving this vehicle does the automatic transmission change smoothly. does the auto transmission operate quitely . does the differential operate quitely . is there no vibrations coming from this vehicle. does the car steer straight and not pull to the left or right. do all the electronics work such as power windows , air conditioner, cruise control, and all the instrument gauges , warning lights work. does it have good brakes. it must also be stuck on a hoist so a inspection can be performed to check for rust . these xjs jags are very prone to rusting if the vehicle has been kept near seaside areas. these cars are also very prone to oil leaks and not using the right coolant and rust inhibitor in the radiator. it is quite critical because the v12 motor has alloy heads which can over a period of years will corrode severely./ check colour of transmission oil ,must be red.I if discoloured might need service or could have problem. check oil level in motor and and check colour . if the oil is white it could have a leaking head gasket
