| Message: | | i can tell you at that price you are getting a bargain. i live in australia and these later model jags sell for 22000 dollars. the advantage of having a later model xjs is that by this time the quality standard had improved making a huge improvement in reliability. i actually have a 1986 xjs and having spent several thousand dollars on repairs the car appears to be now very reliable. the problem with these xjs cars is because they now are very cheap car to buy a lot of them have fallen into the hands of people that can not afford to have them serviced by qualified jag mechanics, therefore reliability issues become a big problem. i would suggest that if you intend buying this car, change all the fluids in motor, transmission ,diff, and change brake fluid. it is not a good thing for these cars just to sit in a gararge and never be used because the engine seals and brake seals will definitely harden up causing problems in the future. i also believe that later model xjs did not suffer wiring and electrical issues to the degree that earlier ones did. the 6 litre motor was definitely a huge improvement on the earlier 5.3 v12and jaguar by this stage had addressed and fixed reliability issues somewhat.
