XJS V12 Starts, but cuts out after a few seconds (411 views) (882 thread views) 
Message: Hey everyone, I'm a complete Jag amatur but am a handy mechanic... Just bought a jag xjs v12 (5.3) 1983. It's starts up fine pretty much first time but just cuts out a few seconds later. Sometimes it idles for a bit then dies. When it does run it sounds sweet. Also it was running perfect just the day before when I got it started and reved no bother. It had been sitting for 3 years prior to me buying it if that helps.

Can you give me any clues on where to start?

Oh and to add to things now the starter stopped turning... prob just needs a whack with a hammer with any luck.. if not any sugesstions would be great!

Hope someone has had this problem before and can help!!
