| Message: | | It happened fourth of July. Girlfriend and I stopped at a Chinese Restaurant in her 03 X type. We left there and drove about 5 miles to see some fireworks. On the way to the fireworks, I heard a faint clunk,clunk and kept listening but nothing more. When we arrived at the fireworks we walked around the front of the car and noticed her leaper was missing. We concluded that it was stolen at the restaurant.
Long story short, next day I looked to see what was gone and what was not gone from the leaper location. The replacement leaper has a short cable and a spring on it so it will flex if hit. he base was there, but underneath there was a spring and part of the cable. Now if that cable was intact, it would have taken "king kong" to snatch it off or some wire cutters, but, what I found was the remaining cable had rusted, really rusted, frayed and rusted. Girlfriend still thinks it was stolen, I firmly believe that the cable rusted thru and let loose on our way to the fireworks. Or if somebody did steal it at the restaurant then it could have been a 4 year old kid as the cable was that badly rusted. Got replacement leaper on ebay and loaded the cable with white lithium grease...
