| Message: | I'm surprised, it's been 2 1/2 years since I bought my 2004 X-Type 3.0 and I still had the leaper on the hood. I already had a contingency plan when I first bought the car to replace the hood ornament with the round type since I was nearly 100% sure it would be stolen within the first week. Flash forward more than two years and the leaper was still on the hood. I park on the street in front of my house, in a nice neighborhood but short of putting your car in a garage 24/7, no way you can protect against the thief who want your hood ornament. Since it was so long, I must have been lulled into a false sense of security - never on red alert everytime I came out to the car fearing the worst. So this morning I come out and see the leaper missing. the base is there but ornament itself is missing. I wonder if I replace it and put a sign that says "Hey idiot, this leaper will be inoperable and worthless if you rip it off" will help?? I doubt it. Anyway, I am going to just replace with the Euro spec round badge. I don't care about looking slightly off, I don't want to deal with this again. If this punk stolen it once, who's to say he won't do it one day later after I replace it? I can't find the link. Can someone please forward me the link of the online retailer who sold these round badge hood ornaments?? I had it earlier but can't find it anymore. | ||||
