| Message: | you can hardwire it into the jag, possibly. there are 2 types of fm modulators, wireless and wired. note i said modulators, not transmitters. most wireless (transmitters) sound like crap. the only one i ever saw that worked good was an old ipod one that is no longer available. you can get good ones, but expect to pay between $60-100 and they are only sold at car audio shops. you can't buy a good one from a retail store like best buy. the wired version simply goes inline with your antenna. the sound quality is pretty good, but not quite as good as the ACM from jag. it will sound as good as any radio station you listen to. i have a sirius satellite tuner hooked up via a wired fm modulator and it works just fine. i did have to buy the 2 adapters as the jag antenna uses a square connection (euro) and most fm modulators use the round style (american). both cables cost me about $35. when the unit is powered on it overrides the incoming signal from the antenna and blocks all but the freqency that it is using. it ia a factory sirius modulator that has a special line/port for this that comes directly from the sirius receiver. there are other verions that do the same thing, only they constantly broadcast thier signal at the set frequency and allow the normal antenna signal to pass through. on a side note, there have been many, many problems reported from using the RCA connections on the ACM. apparently the designers did something wrong, and after using the RCA connections and removing the source (ipod, mp3 player) the unit fries. my dealer told me that i had to buy another cable from somewhere else (like best buy) to reduce the signal coming into the ACM. another person reported being told to wait 30 seconds before turning the unit on once it has been plugged in. both of these are complete rubbish. i find it very hard to believe that EVERY SINGLE piece of audio equipment with an RCA connection will work with my mp3 player but the sound level is too much for the jag and causes it to fry. plugging something into the rca and waiting 30 seconds before playing a song has absolutely nothing to do with anything audio related. that is like saying that you have to put a bag of popcorn in the microwave, then wait 30 seconds before you hit start. it just makes no sense. nothing is happening until you hit start, so waiting 30 seconds of 30 minutes would make no difference. | ||||
