I have worked around ZF transmissions for awhile now. This happens to be the same trans that is in the BMW 745 and Rolls Royce Phantom. One thing they have always had problems with is the 1st to 2nd shift. My 05' does it when coming to a stop and then accelerating again. It can't decided what gear it wants. Sometimes I notice it clunk out of 2nd while stopped. They are programmed to take off in 2nd gear to help emissions. This was the same problem I experienced with the VW passats. Volkswagen always had us replace the whole trans for this problem. Then they came out with a TCM reflash. I think it is a combination of sticky valves and TCM programming. I just live with it personally. Not sure if there is a known fix through jaguar at present.
