I had the same problem with my xj8. Got disabling error codes on and off that would leave me stranded. We took the car to the Jag dealer here in San Antonio (Barrett Jaguar). They told us the throttle body had to be replaced to the tune of $1,200. I had read on the internet that a good cleaning might fix the problem. I told the dealer this and requested the clean the throttle body first. They said that this would not do any good because it had an electrical problem and it should be replaced. We let my brother-in-law clean the throttle body (he is a mechanic) and we have had no more problems. Can you believe we got a coupon in the mail recently from Barrett Jaguar for a $143.50 throttle body cleaning special. I'll never trust what a dealer tells me again. They just want as much money as they can get out of you!
