| Message: | | Have a jaguar s type 2002 3.0ltr sport (automatic) and it recently had a problems with the gearbox in that it seemed to miss 3rd gear, drop down to second or go up to fourth to compensate, thus creating either a surge in revs or it struggled to maintain revs. Grange Exeter, the Jaguar dealer, on failing to solve the problem contacted ZF who bizarrely suggested that the spark plugs should be changed as they were known to disrupt control unit signals. Spark plugs have been changed and it appears the problem is now resolved at minimal cost. Service Manager at Grange said it was the first time in 19 years working on these cars that such a solution has been suggested and was not a solution that they, in a million years, would have arrived at themselves.
