| Message: | | I have been dealing with Failsafe Engine Mode for about a year now. It would kick in and out numerous times throughout my daily commute, sometimes leaving me without an accelerator at the worst times. I finally have resolved the problem, and for a mere $4 dollar can of throttle body cleaner. The throttle body apparently will collect so much grime and carbon deposits it will cause the butterfly valve to stick. Jaguar says not to clean the throttle body due to it having a protective coating that can be damaged by some cleaners. Disregard that warning, I used CRC throttle body cleaner as it mentions it is safe to use with protective coatings. I sprayed down the whole throttle body, and used an old toothbrush to dislodge the grime. It was so filthy, I had to use rag after rag to catch all the grime runoff. The butterfly valve was very hard to open at first, but after spraying it down it started opening right up. There is NO failsafe engine mode anymore. If your having failsafe engine mode problems, try cleaning out the throttle body it should solve your issue.
