Post Polishing Results (long) (648 views) (800 thread views)
Message: Took Steve L's advice and hit the car hard yesterday with the PC and multiple abrasives. I had a stain that my friendly dealer left on my C pillar that wouldn't come off using Griot's machine polish so I wanted to try something else. Also, with 67k miles, my hood was starting to look like a golfball. I wanted to take out the divets that the miles had put into it and refresh the paint.

Here's the sequence:

-Wash with Dawn
-Clay with Griot's clay and Speed Shine
-Wash again with Dawn
-Dry
-PC with Einszett Paint Polish on trouble spots (yellow pad)
-PC with Einszett Ultra Paint Polish on trouble spots after realizing PP wasn't going to cut it(yellow pad)
-PC with Einszett Paint Polish on trouble spots (yellow pad)
-PC with Einszett Metallic Paint Polish entire car (white pad)
-PC with GEPC using red pad
-Wax with Pinnacle Souveran
-Collapse

Results and lessons:
-Car looks a bit better than before. Stain is gone!

-Throw away GEPC - - -I have yet to see the benefit of GEPC. Used it twice before, and, this time, I noticed a bit more (not much) gloss in the paint but it also pulled any filler that the Einszett had out of the hood. Made the hood look worse, plus other minor scratches that were hidden by the polish suddenly reappeared.

-Never wash your pads until you're done with the job. Washed my yellow pads and found a scratch that I needed them for. The orange pads don't quite cut well enough.

-Get a professional detailer to take the tough scratches out of the car.

Thanks to Steve for the great advice!

And now the obligatory photos - - ->
