Zaino is actually pretty easy to use, so there is no more expertise required for it versus carnuba. The opposite is true, in my experience.
The towels that you used - were they brand new or older? Were they freshly washed? If so, did you use fabric softener? Many streaks and smears are caused by fabric softener. People think it makes the towels softer and thus easier on the finish. In reality the softener gets lodged in the fibers of the towel and leave streaks and smears behind.
So before you re-apply the zaino, make sure the towels are washed with detergent only and do a second rinse just for good measure.
