I recently hit a pot hole with my 2000 VW Jetta and cracked my oil pan. I did not realize it had cracked and within 10 minutes my car was dead - no oil. Turns out the engine needs to be totally replaced and the $7,500 repair cost is more than value of car. Insurance says they will only cover the oil pan fix - $900 b/c the car was "driven" after the incident. Is 10 minutes of driving enough for them to deny claim?
