| Message: | | change the car significantly every other generation so you get more people's money....like a revolving door. Each group sits out a generation 5-6 yrs and then you bring that group you upset back only to do the same thing again. Not bad from an approach to squeeze the fruit to get all the juice but also depreciates each generation greatly. What this does not realize is the competition is not sitting still and is more than willing to take the opposite generation off your hands. It continues to amaze me how the weight of the performance cars even Porsche has continued to greatly increase even with the technology to make things out of lighter metals/fibers...they have to put more and more horsepower to cover the weight. Weight is money from any angle, unless you talk about a high production US V8 ( Corvette as an example). The car maker who provides a reliable low weight and likely less expensive product will rule, however, this does not seem to be operative for those large manufactures...BMW, Porsche, Merc. I have a 01 M3 and a 94 911...the best of both worlds (in my opinion) but they seem as a group to be changing their stripes, they surely do not need any more weight.
