Replaced the tranny mounts last week (79 views) (84 thread views)
Message: I had the car up on a lift the other week and noticed that my tranny mounts were completely gone! The mount plates were rubbing together, but there was no rubber left. So I ordered the parts from Pelican.

The mounts looked exactly the same as the stock mounts, with one exception. There is a little nub on the top of the mount that only allows you to install the mount in one direction. The crossmember also has a tab that is supposed to fit inside a recess on the bottom of the mount, but the mount could only be installed with the recess on the opposite side of the tab on the right side of the tranny. A check of the parts diagram shows the same part number for both sides, but maybe the oem parts have the recess installed on both sides of the mount for installation on both mount locations? I'm not sure and could not verify, being that my original mounts were almost completely gone! I ended up using a dremel tool to grind a groove in one mount to allow the tab on the crossmember to fit on the mount while the mount sits flat on the crossmember. The mount worked perfectly on the left side, because the indent on the bottom matched the tab location, but the mount could not be rotated 180 degrees due to the tab on the top of the mount.

Car road noticeably smoother after installation. Everyone get under your car this weekend and check your tranny mounts!

Thanks,
Christopher
