| Message: | The mechanic worked on it and passed it by 1ppm on the nox. That's probably why I'm blacklisted as TEST ONLY! At that time I tuned it up and changed the air filter before going in and it still flunked. Two years ago I didn't do anything and it passed. This car has alway had trouble passing and when it does it's by a few parts ppm. I love the car and know it will easily make 400,000 miles (I'm at 280,000 miles) I trust this car more on long trips than any of my other vehicles because I know it and know I can fix it on the road. But I'm getting worn down by the time spent and money to pass it each time and the a/c has been trouble some in the last 5 years. Condenser had pin holes 5 years ago which I replaced only to have a rock or something go completely through it last year I then replaced it again only to have the compressor konk out 2 months later. This doesn't include the vacuum actuators that have gone out. The a/c compressor would cost more to replace than the car is worth, even if I do the work. Oh yeah cost of new fuel injectors and testing again. Arrrgh! My wife drives the e34 535i and her parents drive our first one which we gave to them. My father also drives the same since I picked up one for him also. Those e34's or m30 engines don't seem to have the trouble, passing with low emissions every time. Well if I hadn't gotten the e39 I would probably find a good e34 535i again. Guess that's enough whinning. Thanks I may try it after I see what my options are, Winston | ||||
