| Message: | I would have to agree with most of what you say. My personal hesitation to mod my car has been twofold. I really have not had a lot of time to track or autocross my car and it does perform quite well for my typical driving. The warranty issue is also very important. But I believe the Dinan policy is about as good as it gets by offering factory like coverage. I don't see how a lifetime of coverage is remotley possible with any aftermarket components. There is just too much disparity between individual driver habits and ideas for proper care. I can see it now with people banging the rev limiter with every shift and expecting refunds or free repairs 100k miles later. As far as the resale value I dont see how you would recoup your investment unless you are selling to another enthusiast who knows and wants the mods, even then you would most certainly take a depreciation hit. I also agree with the idea of getting proper instruction/trainging as the first investment. Then if you chose you can reap the benefits of your skills in the proper environment. These cars are deceptively fast and can easily get away from most people if not careful. It will be interesting to see what the long term reliablity of this hot running engine is. I hope to keep this car for a bit but only time will tell if it will be kept post warranty! | ||||
