Re: Anyone recently install rotary compressor 320i? (86 views)
Message: Can't be of much help here BG...but thought I would reply just to give you a reply so this board won't look totally dead!
Still running my origional Behr system..I even acquired the installation manuel dealerships had back in 1981..in case I ever need it. Blows cold, although I am not in your climate, but only on hi speed. Have thermostat to fix speed but you have to take apart too much stuff to get to old one, so I am not that anxious.
Again, sorry no experience with what you speak of. Dealerships have stock piled older freon, so I am not worried about converting at this time as I don't feel it necessary. Idler pully.. bearings went out so I got one off Behr site for 12 bucks. Had to have a compressor hose made for 50 bucks a coupla years ago, it blows really cold so I am good for now. 88 635 also blows cold with origional system.
I have about 15 grand, I know, I'm nuts, in this 500 dollar go cart and have replaced everything cept engine, and I have a spare one. Quite a learning experience. Made the mistake of taking it to a body shop whos paint is excellent, but I had to put the thing back together as they were a little clueless. So basically, I am driving a new car eighty miles a day to work. Now I am fighting a warm up regulator or fuel distributor issue for rough idle....could very well be my biggest challenge! Have the used parts coming and will let mechanic deal with it at dealership. He has 40 years of experience.
Sorry to ramble..........good luck with your specific issue.......
