| Message: | | These little engines with K-Jetronic were very susceptible to vacuum leaks. If there was a leak, you could not tune the engine or make it run properly. All adjustments ended up being an attempt to tinker with the symptom rather than fix the real problem. As the years went by, many (or most?) of these cars ended up being mis-adjusted by inexperienced mechanics or owners. If the vacuum hoses are old, say a decade, suspect some leaks somewhere.
