Re: Please help..mechanic and I are stumped (135 views) 
Message: 1981 320i....in my garage one day, started as normal, then just quit and would not restart. Towed it to mechanic (not BMW but I trust him and has done all work on foriegn car,in small Detroit town). Rebuilt distributor, new ignition module, coil, spark plug wires,etc, s!+t, replaced everything. Only thing left is ECU......am I barking up the wrong tree here? I mean, my mechanic is very good, been in business 30 years, and we are friends big time. He is pulling his hair out and so am I. All relays check out good...vacuum hoses good, blah, blah, blah. I am thinking ECU. Where the hell is it? Does anyone have one? Open to opinions as my 6 series is killing me in gas and need to get the 3 on the road. TIA
