The x6 is a niche vehicle. It is a different vehicle for different people. Not for everybody. Being the performance hungry people we are only certain versions of the x6 are being btought to our shores. There are diesel versions out there that will get better mileage but the public has shown a certain aversion to diesels before the recent gas crunch. There is also the fact that the design of this vehicle began about 7 years ago, when gas prices were halfway reasonable. The gas crunch didn't really evolve into the monster it is until the last year or so, way past the point of no return for the x6 production. would you rather have all of the research money wasted on a cancellation of the line or a remarketing project due to mileage concerns? How about the vehicle's true purpose? It handles wonderfully. I have only driven the 6cyl version and love it. As far as the v8 it will be for an elite clientele. If you are concerned about fuel mileage and utility functions then this vehicle is not for you.
